Backup Please?
As I sit here typing this article I'm watching another computer dying from an infestation of spyware and viruses...and the owner has no backups of their documents...bank, IRS, pictures...nothing. It's all gone. They also weren't running antivirus, antispam or antispyware software. Are you in the same boat?
Listen, it's a new year and it's just not that difficult to do backups or to protect your machine and data. Install a decent antivirus package like Grisofts AVG Free version. Or get a paid for version...just do something. Below is a nice selection of external USB drives that can be used for backups.
Most of these external hard drives even come with backup software. It doesn't get much easier than that! For the most part it's no more than plugging the usb cable into your PC and following the prompts to install the software and configure the backups of your important data. There are as many styles as there are drives from the different manufacturers...just pick one and get started. Then when you read another one of these "have you backed up today" missives you'll know you're ahead of the curve and your data is protected!
