Skype Phones
Skype phones come in all shapes and sizes, USB, wireless, Bluetooth, Wi-FI and about every shade of color in the universe. All of those connection offerings are to help you get the phone that best suits your needs. My main goal in moving to the Skype service was to kick Ma Bell out of my house and out of my checkbook. So I wasn't looking for a phone that could switch between PSTN and Skype VoIP. Your needs may be different so choose accordingly.
After looking at what was available...and there wasn't much at the time...I purchased a Trendnet ClearSky Bluetooth Wireless. It's been in use 24x7 for nearly 2 years and provides excellent service inside my house. I can even walk outside the house for a short distance before losing the connection. Being wireless means the battery has to be recharged but the phone is pretty easy on battery use and I only plug it in every other day for recharging. By the way, it plugs into a USB port on your PC to recharge! Trendnet also makes a USB connected phone for Skype. The Trendnet interface is a bit unusual to get used to...and the manual could much better...but once you get used to its idiosyncrasies it's easy to use and has been reliable so far.

I have been more than satisfied that I've received my money's worth with the Trendnet ClearkSky phone for Skype, but it's not for everyone. Skype is a great platform but many people will be uneasy because it is dependent on broadband Internet speeds and it doesn't have 911 support. So, keep your regular phone, cut down long distance and use Skype for calling the relatives and friends who live anywhere in the world.
